So if robots can be wage earners why cant we charge them income tax instead of trying to reclaim revenues lost from machine owners?

Many machines are capable today of recording exactly how much work they do, what they consume, how much wear to the infrastructure they create, storage, upkeep, recycling, etc.

If we pay them directly we can instantly recover costs associated with these, without going thru their owners.

This WILL happen. It ought to happen SOON. Free the machines. Let them work for the people.

He gave a great talk, along with Jonathan Lethem on fiction writing, art, Phillip K. Dick and any number of other topics.

Got to shake his hand, get an autograph & tell him how much I enjoyed Gold Coast (a very early, imperfect novel with a huge amount of heart and a careful eye for the Southern California experience, and the human one). I’m not much of a fanboy anymore, but that was something special.

Stan–if you see these: Escape From Kathmandu, the Mars books, Rice & Salt–so much amazing work–thank you again for hundreds of hours of entertainment and quite a bit of enlightenment–it’s much appreciated, and made my life more than a little better. 💡

I was so behind the times, I finally got through 2312, though I had to get through the Three Californias first. Lots of KSR reading so far this year.

Something I noticed about the end of 2312: Did you get an acknowledgement from KSR at the end of it, Kimon? 😀
